FON Hosts Visitors at the Natural Energy Laboratory Hawaii Authority
Friends of NELHA (FON) is an independent, volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting education and outreach programs at Keahole Point, where NELHA is recognized worldwide as a unique and innovative ocean research, business and technology park.
Here's what you'll learn when you visit:
-
How food and medical aquaculture is developed free from pollutants including fish, shrimp, abalone, lobster, sea horses, oysters and pharmaceutical algae
-
How electricity is generated using ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC)
-
How millions of gallons of pure, mineral rich ocean water is desalinated daily and shipped worldwide
-
How 300 million clams a year are raised and sent around the world
In the meantime, we welcome you to browse our site to get a closer look at what Friends of NELHA (FON), Keahole Point and the Gateway experience at NELHA is all about.
